We met in 2019 on OkCupid—truly a modern love story.
Our story thus far
(written by Maeve)
I was lonely after a year in Korea and joined OkCupid before I was even back in Sydney. Tim messaged me first and while I don’t remember exactly what his message said, I do know that his use of an interrobang (‽) intrigued me. We went to Corridor in Newtown for our first date, and it was pretty much love at first sight from there.
Memories

Our first photo together, taken on our second date! We went bowling and then walked down to Darling Harbour and had our first kiss surrounded by stinky seagulls.

First Christmas! Tim braved the gauntlet of meeting my family and they all loved him.

For our first anniversary, we took a trip to the Blue Mountains together for the first time. Tim showed me around where he grew up, we ate scones, and we even went on a bushwalk up a mountain (hill) to celebrate.

We then had a lovely trip to a holiday house in Kilcare with my family. It was a really relaxing getaway.

Our first Italian Bowl date—a true litmus test (that Tim passed with flying colours).
01.02.2020
I had always been interested in Dungeons & Dragons and Tim introduced me to it properly. He is a great DM!

Our one bedroom apartment in Chippendale was amazing (and right across the road from Tim’s work!) but we outgrew it pretty much from the moment we moved in together. We are both collectors of stuff, and a lot of stuff we had! So we moved into our current home in Camperdown.

Owning a puppy and training her to be my assistance dog was my dream, but Tim was nothing but supportive from the day we brought Hazel home.
And then my ADHD self ran out of motivation to add more photos hahaha you get the idea

We moved in together in October, and instantly loved living with each other. It felt so natural.

Despite only being together for nine months when the first lockdown hit, we survived, and there was no one else I’d rather have been stuck inside with.

For Christmas 2020, we spent it with Tim’s family in Lithgow. From the moment I was first introduced to them, Tim’s family was incredibly welcoming and lovely to me, and it instantly felt like I’d gained a second family.

We got engaged! I wasn’t really keen on the idea of marriage initially, but the longer Tim and I were together, the more it began to feel right. We had discussed it for a while and we knew we wanted to marry each other, so the engagement itself wasn’t exactly a surprise, but I didn’t know exactly when Tim was going to do it so it was still sort of unexpected!
